Environmental Policy
Caledonian Roots is built by a family of nature lovers. We believe in a green world overflowing with native woodlands.
We pledge 10% of our annual profits to re-wilding North Scotland with native trees and bushes that act as a refuge for our dwindling wildlife population. We only use plastic-free parcel packaging wherever possible and ensure that any plastic packaging we receive is responsibly recycled. Our products are meticulously crafted using 100% natural and organic ingredients, sourced from family-run suppliers who share our commitment to cruelty-free practices and 100% recyclable packaging solutions.
We aim to maintain a paperless system wherever possible and avoid the use of paper documents such as receipts, invoices, and emails. Our leaflets are exclusively made from recycled paper.
All our products are either handcrafted in small batches or made to order further reducing environmental impact.
Sustainable Foraging
At Caledonian Roots, foraging is not just a means of sourcing — it is an act of respect. When we gather wild ingredients, we do so with deep care and intention, guided by principles that prioritise the long-term health of the land.
We follow responsible foraging guidelines designed to protect native plant populations and promote biodiversity. These include only harvesting in areas where species are abundant, taking no more than a small portion of any given plant, and ensuring that foraging activity does not disturb surrounding habitats or wildlife. We never harvest rare, protected, or endangered species, and we always obtain landowner permission before collecting.
Our approach is rooted in a simple principle: take nothing that nature cannot easily give again. By treading lightly and giving back through our rewilding pledge, we aim to leave the Highlands more abundant than we found them.
